What size heat pump does my pool need?
Capacity depends on your pool volume, how much sun and wind it gets, whether you use a cover, and the temperature you want to swim at. As a starting point, use our pool size calculator above — then we confirm the exact model on your free quotation.
How much does a pool heat pump cost to run?
Running cost comes down to the capacity of the unit, your target temperature, the ambient air temperature and heat loss. A correctly sized heat pump with a pool cover running at a sensible setpoint is far more economical than an oversized unit running flat out.
Will a heat pump work in winter?
Yes — a heat pump transfers heat from the surrounding air, so it keeps working in cooler weather with reduced output. That is exactly why we size for the season you want to swim in, not only for midsummer.
Do I need a pool cover?
We strongly recommend one. Most heat loss happens at the water surface, so a cover keeps the heat you have paid for in the pool and shortens the run time of the heat pump.
How often should a heat pump be serviced?
We recommend an annual service at minimum, and more often for pools in coastal or dusty environments. A clean coil, clear airflow and healthy electrical connections keep efficiency where it should be.
Can you repair my existing heat pump?
In most cases, yes. We diagnose the fault first — electrical, refrigerant, water flow or control — and give you an honest view on whether a repair or a replacement makes more financial sense.
